Paivascapes #1 – Paiva River Sound Festival will take place between March 4th – 8th, 2011 in nine venues and riverside locations, namely in Vila Nova de Paiva and Arouca.

On March 8th at 15.00 a sound installation by Keiko Uenishi, intitled 'Sound Dams" will be presented at the river beach of Areinho. Her project resulted from a series of recordings made in October 2010 with students from schools in the municipality of Arouca. In the same river beach, on March 8th at 16.30, the Paivascapes # 1 festival will end with a performance of the traditional group "Sons da Beira Alta".

In the river beach of Espiunca a sound installation by German composer and sound artist Marc Behrens (entitled "Recurrent") will be presented on March 7th at 14.30. Marc Behrens developed his project in interaction with communities between Nodar and Arouca, with special reference to the village of Espiunca.
