Lecturers
As part of the Paivascapes # 1 Festival will be organized a series of conferences that will address multidisciplinary issues related to natural, historical and socio-cultural aspects of the Paiva river and also a reflection on creativity, development and action processes happening in other riverside or rural areas in Portugal.
The organization invited to this series of conferences both a group of university experts and people with direct experience of different realities, so that there could exist a critical mix of ideas while avoiding a possible analytical bias due to an excessively academism.
Domingos J. Cruz
Prof. Domingos J. Cruz graduated in History from the Faculty of Arts, University of Porto (1980). He was a teacher of secondary education between 1981 and 1986. PhD in Prehistory and Archaeology at the University of Coimbra (2002), with a dissertation on the Paiva river, its megaliths, tombs and ritual practices during the Recent Prehistory. [...]
Nuno Martins
Architect since 1990 by the Faculty of Architecture of Lisbon / Lisbon Technical University. Coordinator, since 2007, of the Mondego River Heritage Park, a project awarded in several national and international competitions. Tiago Monteiro-Henriques
Tiago Monteiro-Henriques is a landscape Architect by the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (1996-2001). Since 2004 he is PhD student in Landscape Architecture/Geobotany at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia with a thesis entitled: “Phytosociology and Landscape of the Paiva River Hydrographic Basin ”. Marcos Medalon
Marcos Medalon was born in Pendilhe, municipality of Vila Nova de Paiva, province of Viseu, Portugal. He attended the Viseu Conservatory of Music, the University of Aveiro and the Academy of Music in Lamego. Some his photographic works were exhibited to the public in the Municipal Auditorium of Vila Nova de Paiva and the Rural Musem of Pendilhe. [...]
Sérgio Caetano
Sérgio Caetano was born in Castelo de Paiva and he is a founding member of SOS Rio Paiva, an environmental NGO dedicated to the protection of the Paiva river valley. In the late 1990 he actively participated in the fight against the construction of dams on the river Paiva and several mini-hydro projects which have not come to be realized. Currently the organization has been denouncing various illegalities that endanger this watercourse, classified under Natura 2000. [...]
