Program
The Program of the Paivascapes # 1 Festival, taking place between 4 and 8 March 2011, covers a wide range of activities: retrospective exhibition, concerts, sound installations in the Paiva river, conferences, environmental activities and sound perception activities. Moreover, the festival is thought as a route along the Paiva river, through nine locations of five bordering municipalities (especially Vila Nova de Paiva and Arouca) and will have a total of twenty-one different events, occurring from morning till evening. And finally, it is important to note that the festival will feature presentations from twenty-five artists, three traditional music groups and six conference speakers.
March 4th
The first day of the Paivascapes #1 will be located in Vila Nova de Paiva and will start with the opening of a retrospective exhibition of eight works created in the sequence of a series of artist residencies along the Paiva river that happened in 2010. The day will end with a multimedia concert by Katherine Liberovskaya and o.blaat. [...]
March 5th
The second day of Paivascapes # 1 will take place entirely in the municipality of Vila Nova de Paiva with an intensive program that includes an environmental walk in Alhais, sound and video installations by Manuela Barile in Pendilhe, a series of lectures, a video screening session, a traditional concert with five concertinas and audiovisual performances by Masayo Kajimura, Tiago Pereira and Patrick McGinley, all at the Municipal Auditorium of Vila Nova de Paiva. March 6th
The third day of Paivascapes # 1 is surely the most itinerant of the all festival. Four municipalities will be visited, more than 50 km along the Paiva river, which will reveal the diversity of the riverside landscapes and ways to interact with it: a pedestrian bridge activated by sound, a sound picnic in Nodar, an audio installation in a medieval church, ending with four sound performances at the monastery of Arouca [...]
